INN AT VAUCLUSE SPRING | STEPHENS CITY VIRGINIA | PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY | CRISHANA & BERIN

DSC_9076

Here’s to one of our “Super-Fans” Mrs. Crishana Loritsch and her hubby Berin!!!
Crishana, who I like to call Crissy has been waiting for over six months to do a shoot with us.
Finally this warm day in July it was her big photo shoot with the Snapps :)
What a perfect way to celebrate their 15 Wedding

Crissy and Berin were so much fun to work with.
We joked, compared our lengthy marriages, and just enjoyed the evening together…all while they rocked each shot.

The shoot took place at The Inn at Vaucluse Spring, a place they hold dear to their heart.
As you can see it’s such a beautiful picturesque setting.
We also brought in the game of Scrabble, one of their favorite past times to do while staying at the Inn.
Of course it’s no ordinary game of Scrabble, they love falling in love all over again while playing the game…which explains how and why the board ends up on the floor at the final play ;)

We can not wait to work with them again and get to know them better as friends!!!
Wow, what a great couple
All our LOVE and HUGS to you both and Thank You for LOVING our ART

JUNKFOOD | 1st Annual Elephant Stomp | Benefiting The Gloria Harris Cancer Fund

DSC_7756

One Week ago today we took part in an event that was close to our heart… “The 1st Annual Elephant Stomp – Benefiting Gloria Harris Cancer Fund”
Many of you may be asking why was this event so important to us and who is Gloria Harris?

Ok let me tell you a bit about Mrs. Gloria Harris……
Mother of one of our DEAREST FRIENDS who is like FAMILY to us, Bart Harris “Singer For the band JunkFood”
Gloria left this world after battling Cancer for many years. The Benefit took place on her birthday, a night full of awesome music dedicated to her.
We were lucky enough to have met Gloria a few times….wow, always full of happiness! So proud of her family, always ready to support Bart’s band by buying up all the JunkFood cds she could fit in her arms.
She also LOVED our photography work! Of course it featured her much loved son Bart many times as a band and also as Family Portraits.
She commented and commented to us as to how much she loved the Family Shoot we did with him.
I’m so glad our work touched her heart.

Now let’s talk about the Event…..
“The Elephant Stomp”
The music: A glimpse of JunkFood that is not seen often, acoustic, dressed to impress, and songs that are rarely and many never heard.
Many covers of songs Gloria loved, as well as touching originals written by Bart as his heart misses his Mom so very much.
Pink Buckets full of Prizes, Pink Tee Shirts, Pink Ties, Pink, Pink, Pink…..with a big Elephant Stomp on each.
Pink, the known Cancer awareness color
Elephant, Gloria loved Elephants
She’d love the Name…as it truly represents her way of “Stomping Out Cancer”

The OutCome……..
Many Tears were shed as Bart Sang his heart out, Many Hugs were shared, Many hearts were heavy and happy all at the same time,
And the beauty of it all is that over $10,000 was raised!!!!
Mrs. Gloria Harris…….. “She’d be Proud Bart” :)
We Love You Bart….Let’s do it all again Next Year

LANGLEY AFB OFFICERS CLUB | HAMPTON VIRGINIA | WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY | WHITNEY & BRIAN

Whitney and Brian Said “I do” June 11th, 2011

For each and every wedding Corey and I capture, I write a personal Hand Written journal entry.

This entry takes place within my Little Red-Hearted leather bound Wedding Memory Journal sitting upon my desk.

I’ve now decided to include a piece of this personal journal entry with you as a part of the couple’s blog…….

My Journal Entry always includes one very important thing…….

-The Special thing I Will Always Remember:

The HUGE Storm on Radar that was about to hit Langley Air Force Base in Hampton VA…..me going up to Whitney and Brian asking “do you want to chance one of the best shots ever?”
Their reply,” let’s go for it!”…. Go for it is what we did.
Standing out as the storm was a brewing around us….in the end, “we got the shot” and it’s a moment I will never forget.

There are also many more memories of this wedding that I feel I must share with you.
Ones that touch our heart personally and ones that touched our hearts as we heard the stories behind the images we were creating….

You may remember Whitney and Brian from their Engagement Shoot with us.

Let me take you back to the year of 2005, the year we met Mr. Brian Shanley.
Playing in the band Motive, later known as Honor By August…..who knew SIX years later we would be Capturing the most important day of his life.
It’s been a really fun journey with Brian and Whitney…we’ve shared meaningful talks, awesome shows, and yes even a private moment of him playing in our living room.
The Band Also played a very special song on this very day as a part of their wedding!!
I really can’t even find the right words to express the amount of amazing memories we have made over these past six years with these two very dear friends.
But to know we were able to capture memories frozen in time for Brian and Whitney forever was the most meaningful memory of all for us!

I’d also like to share a tidbit of information behind one of the images we created.
Whitney and Brian’s Wedding Day took place in Hampton, VA near Whitney’s hometown of Gloucester VA.
We had so much fun creating their Formal Images, as we were so lucky to be able to use Langley AirForce Base!
Upon arrival we spotted an old F86 Sabre Jet mounted in the yards of Langley Air Force Base…Of course we were like “wow what a cool canvas for Whitney & Brian’s wedding image”
Never did we IMAGINE the story behind it we were about to be told by Whitney.
This was Whitney’s Grandfather’s plane he flew on a mission over Korea. He was hit by the enemies in the nose of the plane, the glass shattered leaving her grandfather in blindness.
Thankfully his wingman was by his side….nearing the runway he slowly ran out of fuel all while the sun was going down leaving the runway below in total darkness.
Cars, Trucks and anything with lights lit the way for this amazing landing.
It’s a story that gives you chills…almost as if right out of a movie.
So as you see, this Image is not only very cool…but wow what a story right??

But WAIT…there’s more fun facts!!
The only cake cutting we have ever seen that was cut with a saber.
Brian’s uncle a Retired Cavalry Officer in the Army wore this M1902 Officers Ceremonial Saber as a part of his uniform up until the day he retired.
The saber now holds a place of honor within his home and only comes out on special occasions like Family Wedding Cake Cuttings.
Brian and Whitney took great pride in cutting their first piece of cake with this special saber.

Special Surprises of the day : Brian’s Band’s Acoustic Performance at the ceremony and Whitney’s Very Own Song Recording for their First Dance!!

As you can see their day was full of fun facts, meaningful moments, and such amazing stories behind the Images we have created.
We have waiting weeks for the happy couple to return from their honeymoon for their Photo-Screening….which they simply Adored!
We will always remember this very special moment with Brian and Whitney…we love you both.

For All of Our Couples we Give them a Gift of “the-Highlights”….their Highlights of the Day In Motion on Blu-Ray :)

We had the pleasure of working with an amazing artist “Luke Mitchem” www.lukemitchem.com

Luke is not only an amazing artist, but also an all around great guy. So much fun working with him. We were able to go deep within our creative sides to express his laid back, but very captivating music. His music expresses the heart he has to share with all…so very passionate. We hope you will take a moment to take a listen to his music and take a look at our expression of Luke

A big thank you goes out to Luke for being so great to work with

FAREWELL TO a “BAND / but Never to a FRIEND”

Citizen 2009

This past Saturday was bittersweet for us, as we said good-bye to band that have touched our heart throughout these past four-five years of our life.

2006 ERIN & EBP

2011 ERIN & EBP

August of 2006 9:30 Club Washington, DC we would go out to listen and photograph a bit of new music recommended by a good friend of ours.
This new music….a band by the name of “Everyone But Pete”
We 100% Fell In Love with their Sound!!!!

Here are just a FEW of the MANY live shots we captured throughout the years.

December 2, 2006 we worked with the guys on their Press Promo Photos.
Never did we imagine that day that those four guys would turn into four of our dearest friends.
Twin Brothers Jim and Brian Fanale, Chris Lane, and Cal Stamp are four of the most caring, most giving and most talented guys we’ve ever met.

EBP 2006

Throughout these past four years we have not only watched them grow as artists, but also watched them grow within their individual lives.
We have been there for them throughout their changes, as they have for us throughout our changes.
For instance…just one of our changes was when Corey had his accident, EBP of course was right there to donate their time and funds to Corey’s benefit Show

When Corey was strong enough to receive visitors,
Cal and Amber sat beside in our home with Corey and I during his accident and that is a moment we will always cherish no matter where we are in our lives.
They were there to deliver not only funds to help us get through, but also an awesome gift

Cal & Amber at Corey's Bedside
Of course after Corey was strong enough to venture back out to shows…Everyone But Pete was his very first show back

Corey's First Show Back on his Feet with EBP

We tried to attend and document almost every show for the guys,
We photographed everything from press shots, live shots, birthdays, Halloween,to even FUN down time with the guys at their house while we made fools out of ourselves ROCK’N out to GUITAR HERO.

The guys were always about having FUN….like Halloween dressing up like Old Women.

EBP Halloween 2007

Erin Squeez'n Lane's Halloween Boobies

ERIN & AMBER ROCK'N HALLOWEEN 2007

There were also CD Releases that we were so proud to be a part of.
We will never forget the overwhelmed look on the guys faces as they saw the gift we presented them with at their CD Release!

A GIFT FROM THE SNAPPS

THE GIFT FROM US TO EBP

As the band members changed, the band also changed.
Andrew Van Horn came aboard, the band’s name was changed from “Everyone But Pete”
Of course we continued to work with Everyone But Pete and Loved Every Minute of it!
One memory we will never forget is the On Location Shoot in the middle of Crazy-Ville…yes this place was dangerous…but so very cool for a shoot!!

EBP 2007

The Following Shoot would now be with new name Citizen…much safer place and much different vibe

Citizen 2009

Last but not least, I would like to mention another friend who is dear to our heart…Amber-therese Foster.
Amber not only managed and help create this amazing band, she was their friend, their family, and watched out for them.
Amber is so special to many people, as she is one in a million. She gives her heart, her time, and most of all her forever friendship.

ERIN & AMBER

Sadly Citizen would only last about a year…..they would say good-bye to us all at Clarendon Grill in Arlington VA Jan. 22, 2011.
This is a moment in time I will never forget.
I stood in this crowded room that was full of loyal fans, friends, and family….so many loved ones in one room, so much love for EBP in one room.
All of of brought to tears by 4 guys who stood on stage before us singing their hearts out for the final time.

Holding the hand of my dear friend as we cried thinking about every cherished moment we have spent with these guys.
They of course shared the same respect for us, as they graciously thanked us, which yet again brought us to tears.
So you see it was a bittersweet evening for us, happy as always to hear them and spend time with them…but yet so very sad to say good-bye to a band we have loved so very much.
The thing is, this band known as EBP/Citizen may be gone….but our friendship with these five guys will always remain.

Farewell to a Band..but NEVER to a Friend

“Music has a way of bringing us all together for a lifetime”
The band may come to an end, but the music and friendship will live forever.
Music and our Images combined has created some of the most special bonds we could ever imagine.
Not just a one time photo, not just a one time song, but a lifetime friendship.

I truly believe when we are all old, gray, looking over our bifocals…we will still be sitting together listening to music, photographing music and sharing this special friendship.
We just might be the old people sitting in the back of the room watching the crazy kids upfront making their own memories….the same memories we made many years before.
Yes..that is what I see, it will always live.

And so I end this blog with Lyrics that Corey and I read each and every day as they hang hand written by Jim Fanale in the foyer of our home.
“I don’t know where you Go
RunAway to something New
Heaven Guide you Always on your Road”

Wedding Suzanne & Travis

FORMALS039DSC_0146

A White Wedding in Washington DC!
July 3, 2010

Each and every wedding has something I will never forget within them, of course first and foremost being the couple.
We are truly blessed to get to know the most awesome couples ever!
Suzanne and Travis were no accept ion to the rule.
Such a sweet and fun couple!
Their were two things that were slightly different in their big day.
One = Wyat, their Chocolate Lab. Truly the sweetest and well behaved dog ever!
Two = The Jefferson Memorial in Washington, DC…the picture perfect place for amazing photos.

This was definitely one of those days where we wish we had just a little more time to capture more photos…I mean who wouldn’t right?

Of course this would not be a Snapp-Shot Wedding without “Erin it’s a Wrap”

About a week later, we had their VIP Screening in “the Wrap-Room”
We love every aspect of our job, but the VIP Private Screening is what hits our hearts.
Here we show our couples, friends and family their fusion dvd, their book, and their photos…then of course end the night with “Snapp-it’s a Wrap” shot.
It may be a wrap to the ending of your big day, but it’s just the beginning of a new life together as husband and wife and it’s also a newly found friendship with us!

An Evening with Andrew McMahon “of Jack’s Mannequin”

JM2

“An Evening with Andrew McMahon” at Sixth & I Historic Synagogue in Washington, DC…… and indeed it was!

Andrew McMahon for those of you who do not know is the lead singer of Jacks’ Mannequin and founder of The Dear Jack Foundation

JM2

Wow…I truly don’t remember having a night of music like this since back when we saw John Mayer at The House of Blues. It will forever be one of our best musical moments ever. So intimate, so cozy, well taken care of as photographers, and just a truly truly brilliant artist.

Corey introduced me to Andrew’s music after he fell in love after one listen. Then of course reading his inspirational story of his battle with cancer, we were even that much more touched. Since Corey has also had an ordeal in his life..thank God not cancer…but still a battle of his own to learn to live and walk again.

There is not a day that goes by when we don’t listen to his cds. Needless to say when we saw he was doing a “special tour” of acoustic “evening with Andrew” nights we were beyond excited! As photographers, our first thought is to capture this amazing night within the still moments of our minds and eyes through our artistic abilities as photographers.

JM

We were provided with the needed photo passes “a HUGE thank you to Aaron” As you can see we captured the night of emotion, music, laughter, and fun throughout our eyes.

Andrew preformed songs from his bands “Something Corporate” , “Jacks Mannequin” and even a few rare songs like “Katie” written for his sister…wow…such a touching song. He also threw in a little fun throughout the night like when he took the stage holding up signs introducing himself and when he threw out fortune cookies….of course “I” caught one. To help you get a feel for the night…he threw out three cookies…and then asked if any of us had one good enough to share. I of course decided to share my fortune “You will be Successful in Business” I thought oh what an awesome fortune! Andrew instead decided to turn it into a joke..saying…you told me that was a good fortune…blah blah blah. haha..it really made for a fun intimate night. What amazed me most was, this was a sold out show…bottom level and balcony were packed full, but the moment Andrew spoke, the moment myself and the other fortune cookie readers spoke..the entire place went to SILENCE. Such respect for this brilliant person. It was such an awesome thing to be a part of. If the world could have that type of respect daily for others…we’d all be so much happier and at peace.

This night will live in our hearts, minds, souls, and vision always.  A friend/client of ours once asked…who do you dream of shooting…..Virgil, our dream has been fulfilled…as his music hits our soul so very much…so to capture this through our eyes truly was a dream.

For those of you have never listened to this brilliant artist…please take the time to listen and to read some of his music.

Just a few of the brilliant lyrics that captivate me:

SWIM:
“I swim to brighter days
Despite the absence of sun
Choking on salt water
I’m not giving in
I swim”

HAMMERS and STRINGS:
“Give me something to believe in,
A breath from the breathing
So write it down,
I don’t think that I’ll close my eyes
‘Cause lately I’m not dreaming
So what’s the point in sleeping?
It’s just that at night,
I’ve got nowhere to hide
So I write you a lullaby
A lullaby”
